Vicuña District – An Emerging Giant Copper-Gold-Silver District
Vicuña District
- Rio De Oro Corp is the newest Vicuña District entrant with Nivaldo project only 4km from Josemaria, 11km from Filo del Sol
- Cluster of world-class deposits discovered in the central Andes region along the Chile and Argentina border
- Previously considered a mineralisation “gap” between the prolific Maracunga and El Indio belts
- Lundin Mining and BHP group companies are the dominant players controlling the Filo del Sol and Josemaria deposits
- NGEx Minerals holds the Los Helados deposit and the Lunahuasi project
Vicuña District – Nivaldo
- Nivaldo is an underexplored Porphyry Cu-Mo target in the Vicuña Belt, 4km north of Josemaria
- Limited drilling completed by Lundin in 2004-2006 returned low to moderate Cu-intercepts
- Tenement staked by Rio de Oro S.A in 2021
- Recent drilling by Rio De Oro intersected mineralisation, alteration and lithologies typical of the upper portions of a porphyry copper system
- These holes intersected shallow sericite-pyrite rich zones with chalcocite enrichment grading downwards into chalcopyrite-bearing zones
- None of the holes to date have intersected the causative porphyry intrusion
- A number of holes have intersected a near-surface zone of secondary copper mineralisation up to 40m thick grading between 0.3% to 0.4% Cu
